Letting Go

Letting go of what isn’t yours to keep can be very hard. When you get pregnant your so excited and you carry a baby inside and then to have it so beautifully knitted by God himself for you to carry him 42 weeks and 2 days of labor and he makes his debut to the world he’s finally arrives and you are in love at first sight he’s the most beautiful human you have ever seen.  As I thank God in that same moment it’s then I realize I get to keep him but then it hits you this beautiful human is in your hands, just as quick it gets real. The beginning was what seemed to be easy with a few bumps along the road then as he grows into such a sweet boy then we hit 9 and he tells you all his dreams of all he wants to do he says mom when I grow big like my daddy I want to move to Ohio, and he says you think I could? As his mama of course I said yes baby you can I told him you dream baby as big as the sky and he smiles that beautiful smile looking just like his daddy. As it  continued to get harder as he grew through each season I prayed and asked God to help me guide this beautiful human he gave me and ask God to help me make the right choices for him by his word day in and day out. There are days I mess up and he falls I  helped him up and dusted him off and told him to keep going. I kept seeking and planning and then here we are, he’s all grownup and ready to fly the coop ready to head out and explore on his own. I am seeking God again like never before  and pray for my big giant as God’s son and ask God to help him water the seeds he has helped me plant so persistently in our son. He’s now a big  19 year old,  giant young man who’s now an adult. The only thing is no one prepares us to let go of the seeds we so preciously planted. How will you see them grow how will you know if they get enough water this is the true test of letting go of what wasn’t yours to keep forever just long enough to be obedient and do God’s work and stand in faith that you planted the seeds right that you did enough as a mama that you taught them right from wrong enough to know the best choices out in this big world. God gives us a manual to read every day the directions if we get lost how to find our way back on the road. He never said it would be easy letting go but he does say, I will never leave or forsake you I will walk right beside you on this journey, even the journey of letting go. He never sends his answer back void he always sees it through. So here we are, he’s moving to Ohio and this mama prayed for this. I prayed for God to help my son and he is happy and his voice and face is over the moon happy, so I feelt he holy spirit saying it’s ok to let go. I have him now. What are you holding on to? Is it a child, a husband, a parent, a grandparent, or is it unforgiveness, is it anger towards someone, is it the uncertainties of the unknown, bitterness of the what if, or could have been, or the why me, what are you not letting go of?

Today is the day to let it go! Give it to God, and let him take care of it because he can handle it. Don’t just pray for it when you do, LET IT GO, give it up, the weight is unnecessary to carry and He will lift it if you let him. When you pray for it know even if it comes in the form of a child who you have prayed for to now being an adult moving 18 hours away, IT IS OKAY! God has a beautiful plan for him. I prayed to God for so long for my son to find his happy place and the Lord answered the prayer, of course definitely not the way I envisioned it. However, He did answer His way and my son is so happy, and the holy spirit is with me. He has given me the peace that he is going to be with my son every step of the way because He is God’s son before he is mine. There is nothing like a praying mama for her babies even if they are grown young adults or grown up married with their families. Even if it is letting go of the bitterness and forgiveness and saying it is okay to move forward it is time to let go, no more chains to hold you back, no more anger, no more doubt of the unknown, God knows it all and He has the map already drawn up. He has every step for us paved out before we even walk. Don’t be afraid to let go and walk in the victory of God’s beautiful answer to your deepest prayer. It is time to really dig deep into trusting God and knowing the holy spirit can and will catch and comfort you if you fall while letting go and He dusts you off and hold your hand the whole way.

I challenge you to write down what it is you are holding on to and say it out loud!!!

I give it to God I’m letting go TODAY!!!

Ask the holy spirit to come in and hold you and comfort you as you let go of all of it!!!

Let God work in you through you and for you he is waiting for you to let go!!!

Don’t worry about anything instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done.
