Are you tired of living in your brokenness? Maybe you are living in sin and feel like you have become a slave to that sin? Has the enemy been whispering lies in your ear that you aren’t good enough, will never measure up, or amount to anything? If this is where you find yourself today, I have good news for you sister- God is not afraid of your mess. He is not afraid of your sin. He is not afraid of your past. He wants to bring you out of your Egypt and into the promised land: the land flowing with milk and honey! He wants to sanctify you, make you holy, and do a good work in your life! And He will do this when you surrender your life to Him and lay all of your brokenness down at His feet.
2 Corinthians 3:17 says
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom”
What Paul emphasized in this verse is that freedom comes through salvation in Jesus and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. In order to have complete freedom, we must first totally surrender to Him. But what does surrendering to God truly mean? And how exactly do we surrender? It means trading our imperfect will for His perfect will and choosing to follow Him daily. It means allowing him to guide and direct our steps and decisions. It means humbling ourselves and accepting that the battle has already been won on our behalf! This is an act of complete faith that means letting go of control and trusting God with our life, our family, and our future.
Galatians 2:20 “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me”.
Mama, may I remind you that your future is in good hands and choosing to surrender your life to Jesus will be the best decision you could ever make.
To abide is to surrender.
Jesus stayed connected and surrendered to His father by abiding in Him.
In surrendering, and through the working of the Holy Spirit, the sanctification process begins. As christians, we should want to glorify Jesus in all of our words and actions. We should want to look different from the world and desire to bear much fruit. Jesus tells us that apart from Him, we can do nothing. Therefore, we must abide in him if we want to live a life that glorifies Him in all that we are and all that we do.
Do you remember the story of Jesus visiting the home of Martha, Mary, and Lazarus? Martha was busy in the kitchen preparing a meal while Mary was sitting at the feet of Jesus, listening as he taught. Martha was distracted by her serving and went to Jesus and complained about Mary not helping her. “But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:41-42
Here the Lord is telling us that an essential element to walking with him is sitting at his feet and listening to him, which means abiding in him. We can learn to abide by studying the bible daily, praying, worshiping, fasting, giving, confessing, serving others, and practicing gratitude by remembering all he has done in our lives.
Matthew 6:33 “But first seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you”.
So as you go on about your day, remember, in surrendering you will find freedom and in freedom, you will learn to abide.
Mama, there is complete freedom in the name of Jesus. Let Him fill every single crevasse of brokenness in your heart with His all-consuming love. Your freedom was purchased with the highest price. It was bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus! So surrender to Him, lay your life down at His feet, and abide in Him – in him is where you will experience the freedom you have been longing for! This is where you will learn to walk in His love, love others the way he has called you to, and further the Kingdom by stepping into your God given purpose.
Let’s pray together.
Father,
Thank you for sending your son to pay the highest price for our freedom! Thank you for the gift of salvation! I pray that we would choose to live a life of complete & total surrender to you. Teach us how to abide in you daily and awaken us to your presence and power. Flood our hearts and homes, and transform us into the image of you, King Jesus! All glory and honor is yours alone! Amen!
